Description
Yesterday, I set a dog-proof trap and baited it with sardines. I missed the bus, so I took the opportunity to check the trap in the morning. I was very excited to see that I’d caught a beautiful coon on my first try! I was so excited that I only got a few photos.
Couldn’t ask for a better first raccoon. Well-furred, and about 25-30lb. Very healthy female.
For the curious, I am licensed to both trap and hunt in West Virginia. This was a legal trap set on my property and the raccoon was dispatched humanely with a .22.
Nothing of her went to waste! The carcass was fed to my chickens, and her bones will be cleaned and used later on.

My father and bros do are, but I changed my use when adult, hunting no more mammals and birds.
This change is a story 'tween me and me, and if I stopped, I respect you 'till practicing, particularly seeing in your gallery how you valorize their body.
The second nature in me...watchs in those eyes and is shacked by a tsunami of empathy...
